DENMARK RESIDENTS TO DISCUSS
HOW
FARMING HAS CHANGED |

Four longtime residents of Denmark Township will look back at early farming
days Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, 90 th and Oakgreen. The free program is presented
by the Denmark Township Historical Society and is open to the public.

| The speakers have seen dramatic changes in farming over the years. Lauren Cran
will talk about "Cross-checking Corn and Making Hay." His
family roots in Denmark Township go back to 1858. Rod Olson, who will discuss
"Horse Farming vs. Contour Farming," says his father came in
1916. Walt Mills was born in the township in 1920 and will describe helping on the family farm in
the early years. He recalls starting to milk cows when he was 8 years old. Rosella Behrends Johnson,
93, will describe "Women Working on the Farm." The oldest of
five children, Johnson was so good at helping her father that she could not leave to attend high
school. |

| The Denmark Township Historical Society organizes programs every other month
designed to help carry out their mission of preserving the stories, traditions and historic buildings
