"OLE OLESON" TO SHARE IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE
AT DENMARK MEETING

| Roger R. Hellesvig will bring immigrant "Ole Oleson" to life at a meeting of the Denmark Township Historical Society Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 8435 St. Croix Trail in South Washington County. The public is invited to the free presentation. |
| Hellesvig has been doing living history for more than 16 years, specializing in the Norwegian immigrant experience. An elementary school teacher, he has presented programs for many groups, including schools, clubs and civic organizations. He has portrayed Ole Oleson at Afton Lakeland Elementary School, Historic Murphy's Landing in Shakopee, the Big Island Rendezvous in Albert Lea, the River Rendezvous in Bloomington and many community events, including several outside Minnesota. |

"I have seen many students get excited about history after attending a day in a one-room schoolhouse or by being immersed into the immigrant culture of the 19th century." | The Denmark Township Historical Society is in its fifth year of carrying out its mission: "To preserve the history, stories and traditions of Denmark Township and its people, so that the values and achievements of past generations will inspire and guide those of the future." |
Public programs alternate with Society board meetings on the third Tuesday of each month.
